Equality vectors: the basics

Working across organisations has given us insight into decision-makers and their methodology for selecting programmes to improve inclusion and equity. However, many interventions do not take into account the wider context. The process of embedding equality into everything an organisation does necessitates an approach that is honest about complexity, intersections and the equality vectors that have impact. Below is a table we developed to support understanding of the different factors affecting equality in any organisation, team or environment and the initiatives that can be considered. It is a tool that can also be used to manage expectations and identify gaps in equality strategy and action plans.
